Professor Li Shu | Professor Li Shu is a doctoral tutor and dean of the Institute of Communication Studies. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Communication University of China and degree from the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC. Her main research fields include media and communication, political communication, media governance, and journalism practice. Professor Li directed the National Social Science Fund Project 'Research on the Development of News Review in the New Era' and Beijing Social Science Fund Project 'Research on Media Governance and Ideological Security in Colleges and Universities of Beijing'. She has written and published a number of books, including Media Governance of the Ruling Party (published by the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC Press in 2014), Methodology of Communication (published by China Radio and Television Press in 2007), News Review and Electronic Media (co-author, published by China Radio and Television Press in 2004), textbook NewsReview (published by China Renmin University Press in 2013). In addition, she has also authored nearly 100 academic papers in the Theory Edition of Guangming Daily, Modern Communication, Journalism Bimonthly, Chinese Cadres Tribune,Chinese Journalist, China Radio & TV Academic Journal,and TV Research. |
Professor Ren Mengshan | Professor Ren Mengshan is a doctoral tutor and visiting scholar of the University of Pennsylvania. He also serves as deputy secretary-general of China Education 30 Forum as well as consultant and planner with CCTV. He is also a well-known news commentator and columnist. He has focused his research on international communication, political communication and news review. He has authored five books, translated two, and published more than 40 academic papers. He has been engaged in the media industry for 10 years and has served as editor-in-chief and commentator of the Commentary Section of the China Youth Daily website (www.cyol.com). He is also chief commentator, senior editor, and chief editor of the Commentary Department and member of the Party Committee of China Times, publishing more than 1,000 news reviews and column articles in domestic and foreign newspapers and magazines. Now he is a columnist for several media outlets, including The Beijing News. |
Professor Zhang Kai | Professor Zhang Kai is a doctoral tutor in international communication andmaster tutor in media literacy. She is vice-chairman of the Media Literacy Academic Steering Committee of the China Radio and Television Association, member of the Media Cooperation Committee of the China Public Diplomacy Association, researcher of the Charhar Institute, and judge of the China News Awards. Her research is primarily focused on international communication andinternational news and media literacy. In recent years, she hasnot only undertaken scientific research projects for UNESCO, but also was invited to its annual event Global Media and Information Literacy Week. Apart from speaking at the conference, Professor Zhang also presided over discussions at the sub-forums. She has authored Finding China in Yangzhou, and A General Introduction to Media Literacy and Global Communication. Her academic papers include Media Literacy Education in the Information Age; New Theory on Audience Research from the Perspective of Media Literacy; and On the Establishment of Media Literacy Discipline. Professor Zhang has presided over a number of important projects, including the Humanities and Social Sciences Project of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television Research on TV Series and Youth Growth and Problem Solutions, the World Heritage Application Project of Grand Canal Research on the Ways and Methods of External Communication of Canal Culture, and the UNESCO Project Global Media Literacy Assessment Framework and Survey on the Status Quo of Chinese Media Literacy. |
Professor Ji Deqiang | Professor Ji Deqiang is a doctoral tutor and associate dean of the ResearchInstitute on a Community of a Shared Future for Mankind under the Communication University of China. He is also a researcher with the State Key Laboratory of Media Convergence and Communication (Communication University of China). He once worked at the National Communication Innovation Research Center (a key research base for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education) under the Communication University of China. He is vice chairman of the International Communication Branch of theInternational Association for Media and Communication Research(IAMCR), member of the Program Committee of the German Institutefor Dialogue of Civilizations (DOC), secretary-general of theDigital Communication Ethics Committee of the Chinese Society ofScience and Technology Journalism and researcher of the Instituteof Digital Ethics. He also serves as editor of GlobalMedia and China (Sage)and InternationalCommunication andis a member of the international editorial board of theInternational Editorial Board of Annals of The InternationalCommunication Association (Routledge), FAC Books, and The MomentJournal of Turkey. He was named OutstandingTeacher of Beijing(2017) and won the award for the 4thOutstanding Academic Achievements of National Young JournalismScholars (2018),among others. His research is mainly focused on politicaleconomics of communication, international communication, andanti-corruption communication, etc. He has presided over manyresearch projects, including National Social Science Fund projectsand the Humanities and Social Sciences Project of the Ministry ofEducation. |
AssociateProfessorHuang Dianlin | AssociateProfessor Huang Dianlin is a Ph.D. and master’s and doctoraltutor for international students. He earned two Ph.D. degrees fromthe Communication University of China and the Macquarie Universityof Australia. His main research areas include basic theories ofcommunication, the history of communication thoughts, mediaculture research, and international communication. He haspublished dozens of papers in Chinese and foreign languages incore journals and anthologies both at home and abroad. He has alsoauthored or translated several books, including TheDiscourse Construction of Citizenshipand DigitalWorship.He is a staff writer of literature and art reviews with Guangming Daily,a guest commentator and expert think tank member of Hebei People'sBroadcasting Station, and member of the first council of the MediaCulture Professional Committee of the Chinese CollegialAssociation for Visual Art, publishing a number of commentaryarticles in People'sDaily,GuangmingDaily,as well as other media outlets. |
Associate Professor Zhao Ruhan | Associate Professor Zhao Ruhan is a master tutor and associate dean of the International Communication University of China(ICUC). She is also a tutor of the dual master's program of Simon Fraser University and Communication University of China. She received a Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Science from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels and another in Communication from the Communication University of China. She is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, a visiting graduate student of the Journalism Research Institute of National Taiwan University(2008-2009), and former chairman of the Brussels Students and Scholars Association in Belgium (2012-2013). She was first prize winner at the Ninth Fundamental Teaching Skills Competition among Young Teachers in Beijing (2015) and at the Eighth Fundamental Teaching Skills Competition among Young Teachers at Communication University of China (2015). Zhao was named among the Top Young Talents of the Communication University of China as well as the Young Talents for National Governance in Beijing (2019). Her main research fields include digital journalism, journalism sociology, visual communication, and popular science communication. Aside from authoring the Internet News Websites and High-quality News Report: Latest Practice and Experience from Europe (published by the Communication University of China Press in 2016), Zhao has also written more than 40 journal papers and conference papers in both Chinese and English. She has also presided over a number of provincial and ministerial projects. Courses taught by her include Introduction to Communication, Theory of Communication, Mass Communication and Entertainment Culture, Communication and Art, and Global Communication. |
Lecturer Ding Yanyan | DingYanyan is a lecturer with a Ph.D. degree from Peking University.Her research is primarily focused on national culturalcommunication, qualitative research methods of communication,integrated media communication, and global communication. She haspublished a dozen academic papers, and shot two documentary films— Endless Life -Kuzaza Festival of the Hani Ethnic Group (as director and film editor), Feastof the Gods –ZhuanshanFestival of the Mosuo Ethnic Group(as executive director and film editor). She was in charge of theFord Foundation-funded project Intangible Cultural HeritageProtection (The Role of Ethnographic Documentary Films in theProtection of Traditional Culture) and the French NationalFoundation-funded Project International Anthropological Researchon the World Trade Organization (Negotiation in Fisheries). Shealso presided over the VideoLog ofTraditional Festivals of Chinese Ethnic Groups, a sub-project ofthe specially-commissioned project of the National Social ScienceFund (the March 3 Festival of the Li Ethnic Group in Hainan andthe Kuzaza Festival of Hani Ethnic Group’s Yiche People inYunnan) and the VideoLog of the Epicof Chinese Ethnic Groups (WuguoCe Niguo of theHani Ethnic Group), a sub-project of anotherspecially-commissioned Project of the National Social ScienceFund. |
