In 2014

On August 23, the establishment of the Sino-foreign cooperative education institution, the Faculty of International Media (a non- legal entity), was officially approved by the Ministry of Education MOE(Approval Certificate No.: MOE11USA02DNR20141596N).


In September, the undergraduate program in communication, which was jointly hosted by the Communication University of China(CUC) and the University of Missouri(MU), received formal approval from MOE.


On September 25, during the celebration of the CUC 60th anniversary, the Faculty of International Media was officially inaugurated.


In September, the inaugural cohort of full-time masters students was enrolled in the MFA program in Animation and Visual Effects, which was jointly established with the New York Institute of Technology(NYIT).


In 2015

On July 30, with the approval of the MOE, Nottingham Trent University(NTU) in the United Kingdom joined in the Faculty of International Media as the new partner .


In September, the Faculty of International Media officially welcomed the inaugural cohort of full-time undergraduate students from the Sino-foreign cooperative education programs with NYIT and MU.


In 2016

In September, the first cohort of full-time master's students, enrolled in the programs of Communication and Journalism & Communication, which were jointly offered with NTU, officially began their studies.


In 2017

In May, the Faculty of International Media hosted The Second National Symposium on Enhancing the Capacity for Cross-Border Education in Higher Arts and Media Studies, which was attended by more than 300 representatives from over 100 universities nationwide.


In 2018

On January 25, Cillian Ryan, Vice Chancellor of NTU, led a delegation to visit CUC. The delegation met with the university leadership and discussed cooperation in areas such as overseas internship base development and faculty training program.

 

In August, the renovation of Building 21 was completed, and the Faculty of International Media was relocated to the main campus.


In 2019

2019 Survey on the Internationalization of Chinese Higher Education, hosted by MOE, was completed.


On May 17, Vice President Zhang Shuting led a delegation to visit MU at the invitation of Vice President Mary Stegmaier. Both sides discussed expanding cooperation beyond the existing Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate program in communication studies.


From July 5 to 8, President Liao Xiangzhong led a delegation to visit NTU and University College Cork(UCC) in Ireland. At NTU, President Liao held in-depth discussions with President Edward Peck on their collaborative education programs. At UCC, President Liao met with President John O'Halloran, and the two institutions signed an inter-university cooperation agreement, reaching a consensus on multilevel cooperation. 


In 2020

In May, the project aimed at enhancing the quality of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs was launched.


In December, the Faculty of International Media successfully passed the MOE's evaluation of Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions.


On December 25, the Faculty of International Media hosted the 2020 Ministry of Education's on-site Evaluation Meeting for Sino-foreign Cooperative Educational Institutions. 


In 2021

In March, the undergraduate advertising program, jointly organized with NTU, received approval from MOE, and the first group of students enrolled in September.


In November, the undergraduate communication program, jointly organized with the MU, successfully passed MOE's evaluation of Sino-foreign cooperative educational programs.


In 2022

On December 19, the Faculty of International Media and the School of Journalism, MU jointly hosted the Seminar on Innovation Pathways and Quality Assurance in Sino-Foreign Cooperative Talent Cultivation online. Vice President Duan Peng and Vice President Mary Stegmaier from MU attended the seminar and delivered speeches.


In 2023

From February 27 to March 3, the university's working team participated both virtually and in person in the 2023 Global Week events, which were organized by NTU. President Zhang Shuting, who was invited by NTU President Edward Peck, recorded a video message to offer his congratulations.


On May 11, the 2023 annual meeting of the Joint Management Committee, which oversees Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions jointly operated by the university and NTU, was held at CUC Academic Center.


On July 19, the team from UCC visited the Faculty of International Media, during which efforts were deepened to advance collaborations in areas such as Sino-foreign cooperative education, student exchanges, and joint research.


In late July, under the guidance of the MOE's Center for International Cultural Exchange, the Faculty of International Media hosted its first high-level international talent development program. More than ten professors from renowned universities, including Oxford, Imperial College London, Cornell, Northwestern, USC, and UC Berkeley, conducted research workshops at the university.


In November, the Faculty of International Media, along with a team from NTU, attended the 2023 Sino-British Joint Educational Institutions Alliance Annual Conference and Seminar in Chengdu, where insights on talent cultivation were shared by the institute.


In 2024

From March 6 to 13, Vice President Yang Yi who was invited to lead a delegation, visited NTU, UCC, and the Irish Management Institute. The delegation attended the World University Presidents Union's semiannual meeting and held discussions with teams from NTU and UCC on potential international collaborations in fields such as digital media arts, e-sports, and digital humanities and society.


On May 15, following the university's 2019 institutional cooperation agreement with UCC, the Faculty of International Media successfully completed an on-site evaluation conducted by experts from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and finalized the application for a Sino-foreign cooperative education program in partnership with UCC.


On May 24, both Chinese and foreign faculty from the Faculty of International Media jointly participated in the 9th meeting of the China-CEE Countries Higher Education Association, which was hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange. Faculty from the institute delivered keynote speeches at the event.


On June 5, CUC and the Beijing Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau co-hosted the Exchange of Ideas: International Cultural Heritage Lecture Series, which was organized by the institute and the Beijing Cultural Heritage Development Center. Speeches were delivered by Song Haojie, a member of the Beijing Cultural Relics Bureau's Party Committee and Deputy Director, and CUC Vice President Chai Jianping. More than ten experts from the cultural heritage field, both domestic and international, gave presentations, with over 600 attendees joining both online and in person.


On June 18, the exhibit titled The Beautiful Life by the River: A Cultural Image Exhibition of the Beijing and Nottingham Grand Canals, which involved joint participation by Chinese and foreign students and faculty, was unveiled at the university's Media Museum. Speeches were given by Yu Ping, Consultant to the Beijing Municipal Government and former Deputy Director of the Beijing Cultural Relics Bureau, and Yang Yi, Vice President of CUC. This event was a key practical teaching project for the cultural heritage management program jointly operated by the Faculty of International Media and NTU.


On September 6, the summer practice projects of the Faculty of International Media's students were specially screened at the Veneto region segment of the Venice Film Festival.


From September 11 to 16, the delegation from the Faculty of International Media visited MU, where they toured the university's practical teaching facilities and bases, advancing efforts to further optimize practical teaching.
