1.Brief Introduction
The Bachelor’s in Journalism is a Sino-foreign cooperative educational program for undergraduates established by the Communication University of China and University of Missouri Columbia (Mizzou).It was approved by China’s Ministry of Education in 2014 with Certificate No.MOE11US2A20141597N. The Communication University of China is one of the universities that hastaken the lead in launching journalism courses at the undergraduate level. Now, CUC ranks No. 1 in journalism in China. Mizzou was founded in 1839 and its School of Journalism was established in 1908, one of the earliest journalism programs worldwide. The project combines high-quality educational resources from two universities, with the goal of "training first class professionals in journalism". This cooperative project utilizes international, systematic and scientific models in communication and journalism science.
With the teaching goal above, more and more graduates will join global news teams equipped with a professional and practical background, one that is steeped in patriotism and an international perspective. Teaching focuses on combining CUC’s training methods in journalism with Mizzou’s “learning journalism in practice”. Through this program, students will have a solid general foundation, develop a professional attitude in journalism, and grasp a strong understanding of media convergence. With a concrete understanding of journalism, students will be in a position to share aspects of their Chinese heritage with the world.
