国际传媒教育学院举办首期跨文化交流活动

       本学期,学院联合外教团队共同发起了跨文化学术交流项目,在增进中外学生之间的文化认同和理解、增强学生跨文化理解力的同时,建立一个致力于研究跨文化能力和沟通技巧的科研团队。315日,跨文化学术交流项目本学期的第一场活动顺利开展。

     This semester, the Faculty of International Media(ICUC) ,in collaboration with the lecturers from Nottingham Trent University(NTU), launched an Intercultural Exchange Program, with the aim of  enhancing cultural identity and understanding between Chinese and foreign students, strengthening students' intercultural understanding, and at the same time  establishing a research group  dedicated to studying intercultural competence and communication skills. On March 15th, the first event of this semester's intercultural communication was successfully held.

       此次活动在学院一站式大厅举办,吸引了来自不同文化背景的中外学生以及中国传媒大学和诺丁汉特伦特大学的教师参加。

      Hosted at the Global Lounge building within CUC, the event brought together students from diverse cultural backgrounds, along with lecturers from Communication University of China and Nottingham Trent University.

       本次活动由NTU教师Stella主持,她向学生们概述了本学期跨文化交流系列活动的主要内容和目标,强调打开新社交圈、分享文化体验以及培养跨文化能力的重要性。

      The Event was hosted by Stella from NTU. She commenced the program by outlining its objectives, emphasizing the importance of making new connections, sharing cultural experiences, and cultivating intercultural competence.

       本学期系列活动为期8周,每周都有不同的主题,包括文化和跨文化能力的讨论、文化知识问答和语言咖啡馆、文化遗产、全球节日以及关于刻板印象、偏见和歧视的话题。我们还会在活动中穿插不同文化下的舞蹈和庆典活动。

      The program, scheduled to run this semester for the period of 8 weeks, will feature various activities each week. These will include discussions on cultural and intercultural competence, cultural quizzes, and language cafes, talks on heritage and global festivals, and sessions addressing stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination. The grand finale will involve cultural dancing and festivities.

       Stella还介绍了跨文化交流研究小组,并鼓励学生积极加入。只要能参加为期8周的项目,就能获得加入研究小组的资格。她强调参与研究小组的好处,例如获得证书,充实个人简历等。本次研究成果将通过中英文学术论文进行发表。

  Stella also introduced the intercultural research group, highlighting the benefits of participation, such as receiving a certification and enhancing one's CV. Students were encouraged to actively engage with the program for 8 weeks to qualify for membership in the research group, which will lead to an academic paper being published about the program in both Chinese and English language.

       在首次活动中,中外学生通过讨论不同的文化定义、绘制身份圈和制作数字便笺进行积极互动。他们还完成了跨文化能力问卷测验,以评估他们的跨文化能力。在整个项目结束时,我们会对每个人重新进行跨文化能力测验。

    During the inaugural session, students participated in interactive activities, such as discussing different definitions of culture, drawing identity circles, and contributing to a digital padlet. They also completed an intercultural competence quiz in the form of a questionnaire to assess their perceptions on intercultural competence, which will be revisited at the end of the program to track any developments.

       最后,来自不同文化背景和国家的同学进行了自由交流。在本环节中,每个参与者需要交5个新朋友,尝试拓展社交圈。学院为学生提供了小吃和饮料,大家在轻松愉悦的氛围中度过了一个充实的下午。

      The session culminated with students mingling and connecting with peers from various backgrounds and countries. They were tasked to converse with five individuals they hadn't previously met, fostering intercultural relationships. Snacks and refreshments were provided for students and memorable moments were captured through photography.

       本次跨文化交流活动圆满结束。跨文化系列活动将开阔学生视野、丰富自我阅历,促进跨文化理解和个人成长。让我们一起期待下一次活动。

     This event concluded successfully. Our intercultural exchange program promises to be an enriching experience, fostering intercultural understanding and personal growth among participants and we look forward to the next event.
