Visiting the 120 Years of Chinese Film Exhibition --

A CUC-NTU Programme Field Trip

(Written by Luyue JIANG; Photo by Xi LING) On January 8, led by professors of Nottingham Trent University, graduate students of 2025 Museum and Heritage Development cohort and undergraduate students of 2024 Advertising/Media and Communication cohort of Faculty of International Media visited the China Film Museum. They toured the exhibition“Voices of the People: Achievements of Chinese Cinema in the New Era”, gaining an in-depth understanding of the development journey and cultural significance of Chinese cinema.

Marking the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, the exhibition employed thematic sections to chronologically trace the industry's evolution, vividly narrating its developmental journey and monumental achievements to the visiting faculty and students. One section highlighted the integration of traditional culture into film, emphasizing how Chinese cinema draws upon national spiritual heritage to cultivate cultural confidence and artistic innovation. The section titled “Pristine Waters and Verdant Mountains Are Priceless Treasures” deeply moved viewers. Films shot across multiple provinces showcased the diverse visual representations of China's landscapes through audio and visual language, allowing participants to witness the implementation and significant practices of China's sustainable development goals over the past two decades.

This visit deepened the understanding of both international faculty and Chinese students regarding the role of museums in preserving and interpreting cultural narratives. Through field research and cultural exploration, the event not only served as a vivid supplement to classroom learning but also built a solid platform for cross-cultural communication.
